FAQ

Questions

Q: Why should I go to Ithaca?
A: Beyond the dance floor, Ithaca is an experience with its breathtaking waterfalls, lush gorges, and serene summer vibe, it’s the ultimate destination to unwind. We invite you to turn your Tango trip into a unforgettable getaway—hike nature trails, swim in refreshing lakes, meditate, and immerse yourself in the local charm, all while dancing tango.

Q: Why did you change name from Ithaca Tango Weekend to Tango Rendezvous?
A: We honor the foundation that Ithaca Tango Weekend built for our community. As the event grew, we saw an opportunity to refine the format toward a more intentional, curated experience. The 2026 marathon edition demonstrated strong interest in this approach. Tango Rendezvous represents the next chapter—one focused on connecting dancers who value thoughtful intentional event curation and destination tango experiences. We're grateful to ITW for paving the way.

Q: Is registration required?
A: Yes. All participants must register and purchase a full weekend pass. No walk-ins will be allowed.

Q: Why does ITW have only four milongas? A: Traditional tango marathons often include five milongas, but in practice many out-of-town dancers need to leave early on Sunday. For this reason, we decided to skip the early-Sunday milonga and keep the schedule relaxed — which also helps reduce the overall cost of attendance.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: Please see our registration & cancellation page

Q: How can I get to Ithaca?
A: If you’re driving from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, NYC, Washington DC, or Pittsburgh, Ithaca is an easy 5–6 hour trip. There are also bus connections. Ithaca has a small regional airport with seasonal flights from NYC, Washington, and Detroit. Alternatively, you can fly into Syracuse, NY, which offers many more connections and is just about one hour from Ithaca.

Q: Will food be served?
A: We will provide snacks and drinks during the milongas. Regarding brunch at this point we are exploring our options and will provide update later. And, we encourage you to explore Ithaca’s excellent local food scene — especially the Ithaca Farmers Market at the beautiful inlet locationclass

Q: What is your code of conduct?
A: We are committed to fostering an environment where every dancer feels safe, respected, and welcome. All participants—regardless of race, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, or ability—deserve a space free from harm. Any form of disrespectful conduct, whether verbal, physical, or non-verbal, including harassment, sexual harassment, sexual assault, discrimination, or retaliation, will not be tolerated. If behavior arises that violates these principles, we will respond promptly. Consequences for inappropriate conduct will be determined by the Ithaca Tango Rendezvous organizers and may include immediate removal from the event, notifying the broader tango community when appropriate, or contacting law enforcement if necessary. If you experience or observe any form of harassment, please reach out to the event host as soon as possible. You may also report concerns privately by emailing info@ithacatangoweekend.com. All reports will be handled with discretion and kept confidential. By attending Ithaca Tango Rendezvous, all participants agree to uphold and abide by this Code of Conduct and accept the terms of the liability waiver .
